Sharing the Daily Word

‘These people honor me with their lips,
    but their hearts are far from me. Their worship is a farce,
    for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God.’
Then Jesus called to the crowd to come and hear.
“Listen,” he said, “and try to understand.
 It’s not what goes into your mouth that defiles you;
you are defiled by the words that come out of your mouth.”
Matthew 15:8-11

As we celebrate Easter this weekend, let's search our hearts and make sure that our walks with God are real and not only an "honoring with our lips".  Satan desires to destroy us and he does that through deception.  It may be possible that we think that that we are following God, but are missing the big part of the picture.  The scripture above points out that it is important to notice the words that come out of our mouths.  That is a clue to the true condition of our hearts.  What better time of year to let God cleanse our hearts and draw close to Him in true worship and repentance!
